Kupang city has function as government?s district, capital of municipality and the capital of NTT province.there are several spots around it such as;

Tablolong, a white sandy beach located 60 km from Kupang which is suitable for fishing. Annual Fishing Tournament is taken place at this beach.

Sabu Island is an isle situated between Rote Island and Sumba. This island has tropical climate with dry season from April till November and short rainy season from December till March. Because of its dry condition, kind of trees that dominate this place are palm trees or Lontar. According to Sabunese Lontar is their living tree since they make their main food (liquid sugar called Gula Sabu) from this tree. They also use each part of palm tree to build their house.
